Help for victims of family violence - Intervention Order Support Service
The Mallee Family Care Community Legal Centre (CLC) provides help at court to victims of family violence through our Intervention Order Support Service (IOSS). A lawyer from CLC is available at the Mildura Magistrates Court every Monday to provide advice and representation to people who have experienced family violence and need help navigating the court system. A MMCLS lawyer is also available at the Robinvale and Swan Hill Magistrates’ Courts fortnightly and the Kerang Magistrates’ Court [check frequency].

Help is provided on a duty lawyer basis, with ongoing casework available depending on the availability of legal aid funding, people’s need for assistance and the capacity of the CLC at any given time.
If you need help with a family violence matter, let the Registrar know when you arrive at Court on the day of your hearing and one of our lawyers will speak to you. To request an appointment for help with a family violence matter please contact us in one of the ways listed at the bottom of this page.
If you feel that you are in immediate danger telephone the police on 000.
Women’s Safety Package
We are excited to announce the Mallee Family Care Community Legal Centre (CLC) has been funded by the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department (AGD) to establish a new service for women experiencing or at risk of family violence, building on our existing work and partnerships in the Mallee. The funding is until mid-2018 to start February/March 2016 and is from the Women’s Safety Package funding.
The funding objectives are fairly broad, enabling the twelve newly funded Community Legal Centre’s nationally to develop the service with consideration of the needs in their local/regional catchment. The purpose of this Grant is to trial innovative service models delivering wrap around legal and related support to women experiencing family violence, through well-established legal assistance providers.
The objectives of the Grant are to:
-
Provide wrap-around legal and non-legal services in safe locations, to assist women experiencing family violence to protect themselves and their children; and,
-
Establish an evidence base for future use of this service model in the legal assistance sector.
